In German the term “between the years” refers to the time between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Usually it’s not a very busy week at an airport, but the fantastic weather was quite inviting to go for a flight.
As it quickly became apparent at Egelsbach airport we weren’t the only ones that were lured to the airfield. At times up to seven planes were holding short of the active runway.
Picking a destination was quite a challenge. The Rhein valley was completely covered in fog and thus the planned destinations Worms and Mannheim were in Instrumental Meteorological Conditions (IMC). Many of the other usual destinations were closed during this week.
So in the end we opted for a local scenic flight over the Odenwald the Rhein valley. The fog looked like an ocean breaking against the hills of the Odenwald.
Landing at Egelsbach was similar busy as the take-off, but Egelsbach Info managed the traffic with great efficiency.
What a beautiful last flight in 2015!
All the best for 2016!
